DESCRIPTION -
Gopika Biraha Geetam: Written by 12th century poet Jaideva. While
playing hide and seek lord krishna disappears and is no where in
sight. The gopike (women of Brindaban) call out his name and request
him to come back.
- Tarana
DESCRIPTION -
Tarana is basically a meaningless composition
made of mutilated sitar strokes, tabla (drum) sylables and occasionally
verbalized notions set in a specific raga format. A raga is a combination
of notes expanding over three octaves depicting a certain mood and
melody. Text or poetry is not heavily emphasized while melody and
rhythm are. This form of music is competely improved and not precomposed.
- Dinana Dukha
DESCRIPTION -
Bhajan or devotional song in which poetry
has been set into raga and framed into certain rhythmic cylcles.
Several poets from different centuries have written Bhajans. Many
of these beare deep philosophical and spiritual messages. The Bhajan
sung here describes the countless compassionate deeds done by Krishna
for people in distress.
- Bit Gaye Din
DESCRIPTION -
Bhajan set into relatively modernized
tune adoped from raga pahadi. Pahadi is a folk tune that was incorporated
into northern classical music. This is a relatively modern raga.
- Shabad Ko
DESCRIPTION -
A modern Bhajan depicting the philsophical
messages of the region.
